Crowdfunding defined: Crowdfunding is a way to get small amounts of money from a large number of people to fund a particular project. It’s been around for a few years in the form of small donations for arts and social projects, in return for token rewards such as t-shirts or dinner with the founders. (Source: CrowdCheck)
Peer-to-Peer defined: Distribution that occurs online with no centralized authority, where people can collaborate on projects with each other directly. Requires some kind of "platform," software framework that structures the relationships.
Kickstarter defined: Kickstarter is a funding and patronage platform for independent creative projects — everything from traditional forms of art (like theater and music) to contemporary forms (like design and games).
